12 & 13 September 2009 - Free event
Turkey will be featuring at the Thames Festival in London this year on 12th and 13th September on the South Bank, as well as showcasing Turkish arts and crafts in the marquee nearby the London Eye. Performing on the New European Stage at 17.00 on both days will be Cemre playing Traditional Turkish with twist derived from rarely heard pieces from Anatolia and playing on instruments unique to the region, including such string instruments as the baglama, yayli tanbur (bowed lute), mizrapli tanbur and kopuz (short-necked lute), and the kaval flute.
